Daily or unit-wise reflections are an essential part of this blog. Each reflection allows me to:
- Review key concepts learned during lectures, discussions,
and practical sessions
- Analyze my understanding and identify areas of
improvement
- Reflect on values such as patience, collaboration,
respect for others’ opinions, and ethical use of technology
- Connect learning experiences with future teaching
practices
Through regular reflections, blogging becomes a continuous learning process rather than a one-time academic task. It helps me become more self-aware, confident, adaptable, and reflective as a learner and as a future educator.
UNIT I: PROFESSIONAL REFLECTIONS
Introduction to Educational Technology
Day 1 Reflection: Reframing Educational Technology in Professional Practice
Date: 30th December, 2025
Context of the Session
The first session introduced the concept, purpose, importance, and emerging trends of Educational Technology through lecture, discussion, interactive PowerPoint, and live engagement tools.
Digital Tools Experienced
nearpod content delivery
slido for real-time questioning
poll everywhere for formative assessment
Critical Reflection
As a practicing tutor, I initially associated Educational Technology primarily with digital tools used to support teaching. However, today’s session challenged this limited view. The integration of Nearpod, Slido, and Poll Everywhere demonstrated that Educational Technology is fundamentally about designing learning experiences rather than merely using technology.
Nearpod allowed structured interaction within the lesson, while Slido encouraged participation from quieter participants through anonymous responses. Poll Everywhere provided immediate formative feedback, enabling the facilitator to adjust the pace and focus of the session. Experiencing these tools as a learner highlighted their pedagogical value more effectively than theoretical explanation alone.
Professional Values and Practice
This session reinforced the importance of adaptability, learner inclusivity, and reflective teaching practice. As a tutor, I see strong potential in these tools for promoting engagement and equity in diverse classrooms.

Day 2 Reflection: Trends in Educational Technology and the Changing Role of Tutors
Date: 31st December 2025
Context of the Session
The session focused on trends in Educational Technology and how these trends are reshaping teaching roles and professional responsibilities.
Digital Tools Experienced
Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) for accessing course resources
VLE Discussion Forum for professional dialogue
Snipping Tool for capturing instructional content
Critical Reflection
Navigating the VLE as a participant helped me appreciate its role as a centralized learning ecosystem. Posting reflections on the discussion forum required me to articulate my thoughts carefully and engage with colleagues’ perspectives.
The use of the Snipping Tool, though simple, proved effective for capturing instructional content and reminders. This reinforced the idea that not all impactful educational technologies are complex; even basic tools can support reflective and independent learning.
Professional Values and Practice
This session emphasized responsibility, collaboration, and respect for diverse professional perspectives—values that are essential in technology-mediated learning environments.

Day 3 Reflection: Experiencing E-Learning Through a Flipped Classroom Approach
Date: 1st January 2026
Context of the Session
The focus was on e-learning concepts, approaches, LMS features, and e-learning standards, delivered using a flipped classroom model.
Digital Tools Experienced
ScreenPal and Loom for screen recording demonstrations
Critical Reflection
Engaging with content prior to the session shifted responsibility for learning onto participants. This approach allowed in-class time to be used more effectively for discussion and clarification.
The introduction to ScreenPal and Loom was particularly valuable. Experiencing these tools highlighted their usefulness for creating micro-lectures, demonstrations, and asynchronous support materials. As a tutor, I recognized their potential for improving clarity and accessibility in my own teaching.
Professional Values and Practice
This session strengthened self-regulation, accountability, and continuous professional learning, which are crucial for effective e-learning facilitation.

Day 4 Reflection: Reflective Practice Through Blogging and Collaborative Platforms
Date: 2nd January 2026
Context of the Session
The session emphasized reflection, sharing, and collaborative learning using digital platforms.
Digital Tools Experienced
Google Blogger for reflective practice
Padlet for idea sharing
Kialo for structured argumentation and critical discussion
Critical Reflection
Maintaining a professional blog encouraged deeper self-introspection. Writing reflections required me to move beyond description and critically analyze how the learning experience could influence my teaching practice.
Padlet enabled collective knowledge sharing, while Kialo facilitated structured reasoning and respectful debate. These tools demonstrated how digital platforms can promote higher-order thinking rather than superficial interaction.
Professional Values and Practice
The session reinforced reflective practice, openness to critique, and respect for diverse viewpoints, which are essential for professional growth and collaborative learning cultures.

Day 5 Reflection: Understanding VLE as an Integrated Learning and Assessment System
Date: 3rd January 2026
Context of the Session
The final session introduced Virtual Learning Environments in depth, including policies, challenges, opportunities, and assessment features.
Digital Tools Experienced
VLE Question Banks for assessment design
VLE Surveys for learner feedback
VLE Wiki for collaborative content creation
Critical Reflection
Exploring the question bank clarified how assessments can be aligned with learning outcomes and administered systematically. Surveys highlighted the role of learner feedback in improving instructional design. The wiki tool illustrated how collaborative knowledge construction can be facilitated within a controlled learning environment.
This session helped me view the VLE not as an administrative requirement but as a strategic tool for teaching, learning, and assessment.
Professional Values and Practice
This session strengthened accountability, ethical use of technology, collaboration, and lifelong learning, which are central to effective digital pedagogy.

Overall Professional Reflection
Participating in Unit I as a tutor-learner reshaped my understanding of Educational Technology. Experiencing tools such as Nearpod, Slido, Poll Everywhere, VLE, ScreenPal, Loom, Blogger, Padlet, Kialo, Wiki, and digital question banks from the learner’s perspective provided valuable insights into their pedagogical impact.
This unit reinforced the importance of intentional technology integration, reflective practice, and continuous professional development. I am now more confident in selecting and applying appropriate educational technologies to enhance learner engagement, assessment, and collaboration in my own teaching practice.
